Introduction to ZTWiki

Wiki is collaborative writing

Please do nitpick pages when you see an error or a missing point. Remember, the core purpose of a wiki is collaborative writing. The page somebody wrote on a given subject is not "his" or "her" page (most of the time). It's just a starting point for others. It is often easier to add or change existing text than to write from scratch. The same applies to your own original contributions. You can contribute the core on a new subject and invite others to continue to your effort. Do not expect your contributions on Wiki to remain static. Others will improve them (mostly). As for the content, write at any technical level you wish. It might be a step-to-step introduction to a feature, but it can also be a highly detailled discussion on some specific technical issue. The Wiki is not aimed only for newbies. So do not hesitate to raise the level of technical details to the degree you want in any wiki page. Remember that the Wiki is also a technical reference center for everybody. We saw very advanced and interesting discussions in the past on ZTreeForum, on APIs, memory addressing, code paging or various Windows issues. Unfortunately, these discussions are buried somewhere in the forum archives. Wiki is a better place than the Forum for these developments. (Just to get an idea why Wiki is becoming more important these days: if somebody wants to read all forum posts since the beginning to this day(currently 86,959) with an average of 60 posts per hour, 10 hours a day (full-time job), it will take almost half a year to do this - 4,8 months to be precise). One thing you can do to contribute is to pick a good post you did on the forum and slightly rewrite it in Wiki style wink. Actually, some of the paragraphs on this page were originally written on the forum(external link)
