Information, tips and tutorials for ZTree file manager
Tweak to solve slow remote logging
Changing the SMB buffer size has resulted in a dramatic improvement in remote logging. There's been several reports in the past of how slow ZTree is when logging files on a remote XP 'server'.
A user recently reported this, and we soon came to the conclusion that it was clearly a networking issue.
In his case, a directory of some 8,000 files took ZTree about 90 seconds to log, and Solidworks, about 60 seconds to display a File Open dialog.
Brian then discovered this article at MS:

Changing the SMB buffer size as recommended here has resulted in a dramatic improvement - logging this same directory now takes about 1 second!
Now there's a useful registry tweak ;-)
