Printing Many PDF in batch mode

This need was raised recently on the Forum by one user who needed to print dozens PDF files at once.

The solution requires the genuine Adobe Reader. Unfortunately, the popular Foxit PDF viewer alternative has some limitations to print from command line as explained on its website(external link).

Using Acrobat Reader and ZTree make however printing of many PDF very easy in batch mode.

Steps

1. Open Acrobat Reader first on empty page (otherwise, it won't work)
2. In ZTree, tag your files, then create a batch (Ctrl-B) with the following

"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" /t %1
(adapt path if required)

The most important thing here is the /t switch.

3. Launch the batch.

Using FinePrint

I strongly suggest you use FinePrint(external link) to queue and previsualize your job prints. Even if it is not required to print PDF in batch mode, FinePrint(external link) may add some pizzazz and better manage the print queue than Windows itself.

FinePrint(external link) is a wonderful shareware that should be included in your essential survival kit.

While printing many PDFs three options might be useful to you:

1. Print two pages (or more) on one sheet. This saves trees.
2. Print double-sided. This saves even more trees.
2. When using 1) or 2), insert blank pages between each print job (seperate jobs) option
